Sleep More, Eat Less
If you have trouble sleeping and are repeatedly sleep-deprived, then you may also be prone to gain weight. Authorities say that people who have poor sleep habits may consume 10 to 15% more calories per day than those who manage to get enough sleep. It seems that people who are not getting a good night's sleep may try to boost their energy levels by eating. Unfortunately, these sleep zombies usually reach for foods that are high in fat, thereby almost guaranteeing a weight gain. Whenever our sleep patterns are disrupted, our metabolic rates are also compromised. Therefore, developing a good sleep pattern becomes especially important when you're on a weight-loss program. Besides, when you're asleep, you aren't raiding the fridge--even though you may be dreaming about it! - Lynda Cleary
