Why Custom Clubs May Not Be Best For You

Players who are exceptionally tall or short or who have played with a certain kind of club for a long time are good candidates for custom clubfitting. David De Smith tells you why.

Players who are exceptionally tall or short or who have played with a certain kind of club for a long time are good candidates for custom clubfitting. It is important to have clubs that fit. But that's not to say that you should also adjust every club's loft, lie and swingweight. In fact, most players, and especially beginners, might be better off using standard, off the shelf clubs. This is because those clubs may help them fit their SWINGS to the clubs, and help develop a sound swing - rather than fitting a club to a swing that may not be the right one. This is something that only you and your golf pro or clubfitter can decide for sure. But it's definitely worth thinking about. -David DeSmith
