The Over-Designed ShoeAre well designed shoes causing us more injury, Miriam Ballantine for emazing, discusses this. Running shoes are designed to protect us from the thousands of injuries, major and minor, that come with pounding our feet on the pavement every day. However, we might be better off with more simply designed shoes that don't come with built-in preventive measures for multiple possible problems. Too much heel cushioning can raise your heel to the point that it's unstable, which calls for other "stabilizing" devices to be added to the shoe. The list goes on, but simply shop for a shoe that addresses only the conditions of your feet -- not what you might need, just in case. - Mariam Ballantine
