Start Your Downswing From The Bottom
How do you start your downswing? Do you initiate it with your arms? Your shoulders? Your hands? Your feet? Hopefully, it doesn't start with any of these. A golf swing is most powerful and most controlled when it is guided by the body's big muscles. Your downswing should begin when your hips begin to turn back toward the target line, and your weight begins to shift from your rear leg to your front one. The rest of the body - arms, shoulders, hands - follow. Using these big muscles to control the golf swing enables the rest of your body to follow their lead, which promotes a fluid swing, rather than a "hitting" motion. Good luck! -David DeSmith
