Breaking Your Race to PiecesRunning Tip of the Day Thursday October 26, 2000 from emazing Just like any "to do" list, breaking down a race into smaller components is a much more manageable way to think about conquering a certain distance. Generally, think of your race in thirds and evaluate how you want to feel after each segment. After the first section, you want to know you've been running fast, but not feel exhausted. After the second section, you should expect to be tired but feeling like "I can do this." Throughout the last segment -- well, realize that you're nearly finished and you've come too far to let off the gas now! - Mariam Ballantine for emazing
